Rhythm Games @ UIUC
Don't you wish you could pay your taxes by playing rhythm games?
Illini Rhythm Syndicate (IRS) is a registered student organization at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign that serves the arcade and mobile rhythm gaming community. Our club has two main missions:
- To foster a vibrant and welcoming environment for new and experienced rhythm game players alike.
- To provide access to arcade rhythm games that are not readily available in campustown or the greater North America region.
Originally founded in late 2023 as a branch of DDRIllini, our community has since grown to become an independent RSO with over 500 Discord members, hosting regular freeplays, tournaments, and arcade trips. Outside of recreational events, we also organize multiple engineering projects a semester, where students of all backgrounds can learn hands-on engineering skills such as computer-aided design, electronics, and programming through designing and building arcade rhythm game cabinets. Our controllers have been featured at various campus-wide events, such as UI-CON, Champaign-Urbana's Anime Convention, and Rumble in the Prairie, an annual dance game tournament hosted by DDRIllini.
